The Lost Art of Letter Writing………

Nathaniel Hawthorne to Sophia Peabody

How did I love before I knew you — before I possessed your affection! I reckon upon your love as something that is to endure when everything that can perish has perished — though my trust is sometimes mingled with fear, because I feel myself unworthy of your love. But if I am worthy of it you will always love me; and if there be anything good and pure in me, it will be proved by my always loving  you

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

Abigail Adams to John Adams

Should I draw you the picture of my Heart, it would be what I hope you would Love; tho it contained nothing new; the early possession you obtained there; and the absolute power you have ever maintained over it; leaves not the smallest space unoccupied. I look back to the early days of our acquaintance; and Friendship, as to the days of Love and Innocence; and with an indescribable pleasure I have seen near a score of years roll over our Heads, with an affection heightened and improved by time — nor have the dreary years of absence in the smallest degree effaced from my mind the Image of the dear untitled man to whom I gave my heart.

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

Johnny Cash to June Carter Cash

We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each other’s minds. We know what the other one wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.

But once in a while, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.

Holiday Wedding Inspiration

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The classic Andy Williams song from 1963 comes to mind when I think of couples getting married at Christmastime.

It’s a time when families come together where everyone put aside all grievances and celebrate!

Let me say personally I don’t recommend holiday weddings. They tend to cost more, from costs of location to accommodation for holiday guests.

But for those who love the idea below is some inspiration for the season.

Below Preston Bailey created a snowy-white forest accented with sparkling silver. It’s every snow queen’s fantasy!

Lighting can be used as accents

You could use the traditional christmas colours of red and green

Gift Wrapped cake

Cranberries incorporated in the decor

Green favor boxes sit atop napkins, and pretty presents for guests rest on the chair seats.

You can be chic, rustic, modern, classically traditional with the decor, food, vows and dress.

Whatever you have chosen to do I hope you enjoy and have a fantastic time.

If your wedding is for Christmas 2014 remember to:

  • Make reservations early
  • send out early save the date as your guests will have to consider their family
  • You will most likely have to make it a family affair – especially for out of town guests
  • Provide entertainment for children
  • If the flowers you’ve dreamed of will be in season
  • Prepare for weather change (I had a wedding the day London stood still for snow. That’s a story for another day)

Be inSpired!! Enjoy and share!
